Last Sunday, we were delighted to invite our 150 Society members to join us for lunch at Calne, ahead of our Spring Garden Party. We were thrilled that so many were able to make it and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet up following our inaugural 150 Society event at the Lansdowne Club in January. Over a delicious buffet lunch, guests chatted and caught up and all remarked on how delighted they were to be at Calne on such a beautiful day.

During pre-lunch drinks, 150 Society member, Mr Jimmy James, had the opportunity to present a special gift to St Mary’s – his mother’s refurbished flute. Cecilia James (née Livingstone) attended Calne from 1941-1943 and Jimmy and his brother, Jeremy, have over the years, shown enormous support for the school, particularly as sponsors of the Cecilia James Prize and Cecilia James Company Music Festival. The flute will be available, for a nominal rent, to a future bursary holder who is keen to learn to play.

Virginia Kairis, Current Parent and Chair of the PGSM, reflected on the event:
'Thank you so much for a very enjoyable day today at the 150th Society Lunch and the Spring Garden Party. What fantastic weather you had and such a happy atmosphere in the school. Having the Head Girl's Team at the lunch was wonderful; they are such a great group of students who have some fantastic ideas.'
