Alumnae News |
We are delighted to celebrate the incredible achievement of St Mary's alumna (1968 Leaver) and Emeritus Governor, Professor Julia Buckingham, who has been awarded a DBE in the King’s New Year’s Honours List 2025 for her outstanding contributions to higher education. Dame Julia's DBE follows on from her CBE received in 2018.
Dame Julia’s remarkable career includes nearly a decade as Vice-Chancellor and President of Brunel University London, the presidency of Universities UK, and leadership roles that have shaped national and international higher education policy, as well as her significant contribution as a Governor of St Mary's Calne. We were pleased to welcome Dame Julia to our 150th anniversary Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving at Salisbury Cathedral (pictured). Her dedication to advancing equality, supporting STEM careers for women and minorities, and enhancing research culture is truly inspiring.
Congratulations Dame Julia on this well-deserved recognition.
