Promise Ceremony for 4th Calne (St Mary’s Calne) Guide and Ranger Unit

The 4th Calne Guide and Ranger Unit has enjoyed a fantastic term, exploring new skills and forming friendships across year groups. The highlight of the term was the opportunity for the girls to participate in their Promise Ceremony, officially becoming enrolled members of Girlguiding. This is the same Promise across the UK, and has similarities with Girl Guide and Girl Scout Promises across the world. Attended by local parents, and recorded for those unable to attend, 10 Guides (LIV -UIV), 2 Rangers (LV) and an UV Young Leader all made or renewed their Promise. Those who were new Guiding made their Promise for the first time ever, whilst those who had been Guides, Brownies or Rainbows beforehand renewed their promise.

Mrs Bolton, Mrs Harrison and Mrs Long were also presented with their badge tabs as Unit Helpers, proudly displaying the World Guiding Badge and the Wiltshire North Bustard. Without the help of a great team, that also includes Mrs Baldwin and Mrs Brown, the unit would not be able to function as they are all valuable volunteers. We are grateful for all their help.

The Promise words are as follows:
I promise that I will do my best,
To be true to myself and develop my beliefs,
To serve the King and my Community,
To help other people
And to keep the Guide Law.
