Wednesday's Music@Lunch concert, the third in our series, was a welcome burst of musical joy to celebrate the New Year, on such a dark and murky January day.
Beginning with Isla's powerful and heartfelt rendition of Burn from Hamilton, we were then treated to a charming performance of Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head by Charlotte. Next, Suri welcomed the early approach of Spring with a meticulous performance of The Cuckoo on the piano, helping us dream of warmer Spring days.
Eva's soulful singing, self-accompanied performance on the piano, rendition of While My Guitar Gently Weeps was a beautiful example of the musical versatility of St Marys' musicians. This was followed by a wonderful oboe duet, Rondo, from Miss Thomas and Coco, who demonstrated the joy of performing alongside others.
Liliana's performance of Bastille's Pompeii got heads nodding with her rhythmically driven bass guitar. Last, but by no means least, Georgia rounded off the concert with a tranquil performance of Rachmaninoff's stunning Vocalise on clarinet.
The audience left with a renewed spring in their steps, having been treated to such a wonderful concert by our talented musicians, and the January blues were most definitely put to one side!
