In September, we decided to design 'charity trackies' which would be sold to raise funds in support of Justice in Care, a charity that aims to end modern slavery. We drew inspiration from a Sixth Form Lecture given by Mrs Boobbyer in the Autumn Term that explained the purpose of Justice in Care, which motivated us to support the charity. To start the process, we consulted our Charity Week team, and gathered ideas about the design.
Once we had our first draft design, we spoke to Mrs Hatlapa at the School Shop, who helped us enormously throughout the process, to talk about ordering samples. When these arrived, we realised the wide leg model was not quite right, so we reconsidered and went for a cuffed leg. Then, after much consideration, chose were navy and grey as the trackie colours.
We then went around houses advertising the product and also created a poster to put around school, and by the end we had sold 173 trackies and 44 t-shirts, which had been kindly donated by Mrs Boobbyer. The amount we raised for the charity was roughly £1,899.54.
This was an amazing opportunity for us, and we learnt many leadership skills along the way. The process reminded us of the importance of teamwork and organisation.
It was a privilege to be able to give money to such an incredible cause and we would recommend this experience to all younger years.
