Palma 2025 - The Ultimate Pre-Season Tennis Trip

Tennis, teamwork and Mallorcan sunshine! From court to coast, SMC pupils embraced every moment of an unforgettable Easter adventure, with top-level tennis and lifelong memories made.

Thirty girls set off for the Vilas Tennis Academy in Mallorca during the first week of the Easter Holidays for an action-packed pre-season training trip. They quickly settled into a sun-soaked routine: a hearty breakfast followed by a short stroll to the Academy for morning training sessions.

Working in groups of four per coach, the girls focused on all aspects of their game under the warm Mallorcan sun. After a delicious (and occasionally adventurous) lunch at the Academy, the afternoons brought well-deserved treats - smoothies, fro-yo, or ice cream - followed by some poolside relaxation (with a bit of revision for the LVI). Then it was back to the courts for the afternoon session.

The highlight of each day was the final hour: the much-anticipated Milka Cup, a fiercely competitive doubles competition. Congratulations to the week's winning pairs: Eliza & Tilly, Quitterie & Florence O., Laura & Tara, Taggie & Lucy, and Florence F. & Zara F.

Evenings were just as lively, with quick dips in the sea before supper and a variety of fun activities. The LVI girls created a brilliantly thoughtful quiz - who knew that guessing desserts could lead to so much laughter? Miss Arthur’s quiz added to the fun, complete with a cheeky “guess the next line of the hymn” challenge. Every night, live music at the hotel had us dancing and singing, and beach football quickly became a favourite evening tradition.

The tennis coaching throughout the week was exceptional. Each girl received personalised tips from Sergio, the Academy’s top coach. He also led an advanced hitting session for the top two LVI groups, which was nothing short of a masterclass.

Every girl worked hard and made noticeable improvements in her game. We can’t wait to see their progress shine on the courts this summer term!
