150th Regional Drinks - Jenna Burlingham

Jenna Burlingham (1989 Leaver) kindly hosted the first of our 150th Regional Drinks at her beautiful gallery in Berkshire.

We were delighted to host our first ‘Anniversary Drinks’ at alumnae, Jenna Burlingham’s beautiful gallery in Kingsclere, Berkshire on Thursday 2nd March.  In celebration of our 150th year, we will be holding many gatherings around the country for alumnae, parents (past & present), former staff and friends of the school to attend.

In the stunning surroundings of this beautiful contemporary gallery, Dr Kirk welcomed guests and said what a privilege it was to be the Head of St Mary’s, be part of the rich history of the school and to celebrate such an important anniversary.  She spoke of the school being a place of learning, growth, and excellence for girls, a place where pupils can be and become who they are.

With this in mind,  guests were invited to be part of 150 Society which supports the Chrysalis Campaign to build a strong and sustainable bursary fund aimed at changing lives for the better for many more pupils at St Mary’s.   Jenna Burlingham was delighted to confirm that she had become a member and urged all the guests to do the same!

Historically research has revealed that men have managed family finances and gifts have leaned towards Boys and Co-Ed schools resulting in significantly smaller girls school foundation funds.  As Cate Bell, Chair of the CFT said, “In the spirit of Calne as a leading girl’s school and looking forward to another 150 years, isn’t it about time we led the charge in changing this trend?”

Drinks and canapes were served whilst guests enjoyed looking at the Exhibitions and everyone was extremely pleased to have the opportunity to catch up with friends, old and new and help to celebrate St Mary’s important milestone.  Very many thanks to Jenna and her team for giving us such a wonderful evening and fantastic start to our celebrations.
