On Monday, during a special outdoor Chapel in the Lime Kiln Garden, we unveiled a new bronze resin sculpture created by Sophie, LV (Year 10). ‘Grace’ is inspired by the Cherhill White Horse and has been kindly sponsored by the Calne Girls’ Association and The Art Society Wessex as part of the school's 150th Anniversary celebration
Sophie was part of an Art Scholars Workshop in February, led by Judy Boyt, renowned equine sculptor, and Kimberley Appleyard Pallot, Director of Art. This was a two-day project which also included visiting primary schools, who worked with our Art Scholars to create their own clay maquettes. All the pieces were part of a small exhibition in the Lumi Library, with winners selected for having their pieces cast.
Sophie’s piece, with Judy Boyt’s help, was scaled up and sculpted to this the final legacy piece, 1/6th of the size of a horse, cast in bronze resin for permanent display. Limited-edition bronze resin miniatures from the original maquette will be for sale to raise funds for the Chrysalis Campaign. Click here for more information.
