During the Easter holidays, 20 girls ventured to Palma to take part in the pre-season tennis training camp at Vilas Tennis Academy in Palma, Mallorca, and what a week is was! Such an amazing experience of first-class tennis coaching in 23 degree sunshine. The girls learnt lot about playing on clay courts and, hopefully, will be able to implement some of their new skills during our tennis matches at SMC.
As is the St Mary's tradition, the most highly anticipated hour each day was the announcement of the Milka Cup Competition daily winner! Congratulations to Lara and Honor, Eve and India, Eve and Mary G, and Flo and Alex.
We also enjoyed the chance to have a padel coaching session, which is very taxing to the tennis player but, once you got into the rhythm, it was such fun - perhaps a new sport for Calne?!
Every evening we had in house entertainment from the hotel and enjoyed super quizzes from Miss Setterington and Arabella T (LVI) which were also hotly contested, causing lots of discussion and fact-checking on Google! Table tennis tournaments were also a loved addition to each day. Evenings were spent on the beautiful beach watching the sun set and playing football.
On our final day, we ventured into Palma on the last day for a cultural and shopping experience using the local bus and encouraging the girls to use their Spanish.
It was a fantastic trip with a fabulous group. Hasta la vista Palma!
