On Monday 24th June, the LVI Historians ventured to the wilds of Salisbury to the amazing Chalke History Festival to hear a variety of Historians talk. There were a diverse range of subjects- from Anne Boleyn and the Patriarchy, to the Roots of the Cold War. There was also a slightly different offering with a monologue on the Warsaw uprising by Kate Vigurs, a previous speaker and visitor to St Mary’s Calne. We enjoyed being met by a previous student who was volunteering at the festival, which is an excellent opportunity for students after leaving Calne.

In addition, the students had the chance to experience various living history activities such as archery linking to the Mary Rose, and Samurai classes. Another successful trip, with some excellent books bought from the on site book shop for our reading!
