A legacy gift can make a real difference, and will benefit the pupils of St Mary's Calne and St Margaret's, as well as the schools themselves, long into the future. A bequest is one of the most personal gifts you can make, and we would be pleased to work with you to ensure that any legacy is used exactly in a way that suits you.
The making of a bequest in your will can be a remarkably tax efficient and effective way of making a gift to the CFT. All bequests to The CFT are exempt from Inheritance Tax. We strongly advise you to consult your legal advisor before drafting a new will or updating an existing one. We are always happy to discuss your wishes and intentions but The Calne Foundation Trust is unable to offer direct legal or financial advice on will making or estate planning. Please do contact us for suggested wording should you wish to leave a gift in your will.
We understand that making a will is a very private matter. However, if you wish to tell us that the Trust has been included in your will, we will be delighted to hear that you are supporting us and can then keep you informed in a way that suits you. Please let us know by emailing office@calnefoundation.org If your intended bequest is a particular item or a sum of money to be used for a specific purpose, it is also helpful for us to know in advance so that we are aware of any arrangements that will need to be made.
The Gabriel Society was established to recognise and connect those that share and support St Mary’s Calne future vision, by intending to make a future Legacy gift.
We respect that a Will is very personal and therefore understand if you prefer to keep your intentions private.
However, if you are considering or have already arranged to leave a Legacy gift to St Mary’s Calne in your Will, we would be pleased to know. The value of your intended Legacy gift can remain confidential, but we will record merely that you have considered doing so. It will not be documented as a binding commitment, but a statement of intention.
Thereafter, you will automatically become a valued member of our Gabriel Society and will be invited to exclusive receptions and school events, as a mark of our appreciation for your future gift.
Your name will also be added to the Gabriel Society book on archive, unless of course, you wish to remain anonymous.
"To be educated at St Mary’s, Calne is to be part of something very special and potentially life changing.
As a Calne Girl I have a huge appreciation of not only that education, but also the friends and experiences that St Mary’s gave me in the 1950s. I was there with Miss G (Elizabeth Gibbins). It was a formative time and I know the influence has gone on in our family for a further two generations. While the school has certainly undergone some significant improvements since my time, its central ethos of community, compassion and helping realise potential, is still at its heart.
I am therefore thrilled to be able to leave a legacy in my will to the Calne Foundation Trust Bursary Fund. This means future support for bursaries for girls who might previously have only been able to dream of being a part of such a special community."
